Help:Pdf

From YWAMKnowledgeBase

If you have just uploaded a PDF you can use the pdf2wiki script to convert it to wiki markup. Copy one of the links above to the clipboard. Click on the pdf2wiki link and paste the reference in. You can also put a template like this {{pdf|pdf name|Description}} on the page you want to use. (Use pdf2 to remove link to pdf2wiki script)

Further note on pdf2wiki script PDF's are great but it is not easy to quickly see what is in them. Also this website is a collaborative tool and not just s simple document store and we want to be able to improve what has been contributed. That is why I wrote the pdf2wiki script. When you upload a pdf, I propose that you should:

  1. Copy the name of the uploaded file
  2. Click through to the script
  3. Paste in the pdf name and hit submit
  4. Copy the code in the textbox to the clipboard.
  5. Start a new page with a relevant name (no colon's in name of page please)
  6. Paste in the code
  7. Tidy up code (you will want to use the preview button!)
  8. Add a Category tag - we should use categories to organise the data as once a page is tagged with a category the software will index it for us. (It will automatically be in a PDF category)
